Half thickness
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005072
The thickness of a specific material required to reduce the intensity of incident radiation, such as X-rays or gamma rays, to half of its original value. This parameter is a measure of the material's ability to attenuate radiation and is dependent on the type and energy of the radiation and the material's density and atomic number. It is commonly used in radiation shielding calculations.
