Harmonic frequency generation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005109
A nonlinear optical process where light interacting with a material generates new light waves at integer multiples of the input light's frequency. This phenomenon occurs when intense laser light induces a nonlinear polarization in the medium. Second harmonic generation (SHG) and third harmonic generation (THG) are common examples.
