Optical parametric amplification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008273
A nonlinear optical process where a signal photon and an idler photon are generated from a pump photon in a nonlinear crystal, with the signal and idler frequencies summing to the pump frequency. This process allows for the generation of tunable coherent light at new wavelengths. It is a method for producing ultrashort laser pulses with high peak power.
