Sum frequency generation spectroscopy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011577
A non-linear optical spectroscopic technique that probes surfaces and interfaces by generating a signal at the sum of two incident laser frequencies. This process is forbidden in centrosymmetric media, making it inherently surface-specific. The technique provides vibrational spectra of molecules adsorbed at interfaces, offering insights into molecular orientation and bonding.
