hyper-Raman spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005521

A non-linear optical spectroscopic technique that involves the inelastic scattering of two photons, resulting in the emission of a photon at a different frequency. This process is governed by the hyperpolarizability tensor, allowing the observation of vibrational modes that are both Raman and infrared inactive. The signal intensity is significantly weaker than conventional Raman scattering, requiring high-power laser sources.
