Immunization

The process of inducing immunity in an organism against a particular disease or pathogen. This is achieved by exposing the immune system to an antigen, which stimulates the production of specific antibodies and memory cells. Immunization can be active, through vaccination, or passive, through the transfer of pre-formed antibodies.
