Active immunization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000184

The process of inducing immunity in an individual by administering an antigen, such as a vaccine, to stimulate their own immune system to produce antibodies and memory cells. This results in long-lasting protection against future infections by the same pathogen. It differs from passive immunization, which involves receiving pre-formed antibodies.
