Innate immunity

The non-specific, first-line defense mechanism of the immune system that provides immediate protection against pathogens without prior exposure. It involves physical barriers, phagocytic cells, natural killer cells, and inflammatory responses. This system does not develop memory and reacts similarly to repeated exposures to the same pathogen.
