Initial energy state
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005861
The energy level of an atom, molecule, or ion before it undergoes a transition to another energy state, typically through absorption or emission of radiation. This state defines the starting point for spectroscopic transitions. In many spectroscopic experiments, the initial energy state is the ground state.
