Integrated risk information system

A database maintained by the US Environmental Protection Agency that gives human health assessments of environmental chemicals, including reference doses and concentrations for noncancer effects and slope factors or unit risks for cancer. Assessments are built from the published toxicology and epidemiology literature after internal and external peer review. Its values are applied in federal and state risk assessments, for example at Superfund sites.
