Karyolysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006305
The complete dissolution of the chromatin in a dying cell nucleus, leading to the disappearance of the nucleus. This process is a morphological sign of necrosis, where enzymatic degradation breaks down the nuclear components. It follows pyknosis and often precedes the complete disintegration of the cell.
