Chromatin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002041
A complex of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and proteins, primarily histones, found within the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. It condenses to form chromosomes during cell division and decondenses during interphase to allow for gene expression and DNA replication. The structure of chromatin influences gene regulation and DNA accessibility.
