Layer-by-layer assembly
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006492
A method for fabricating ultrathin films by alternately depositing oppositely charged materials, such as polyelectrolytes, onto a substrate. Each deposition step adds a new layer, building up a nanostructured film with precise control over thickness and composition. This technique is widely used for creating functional coatings and membranes.
