  1. The mass of living test animals per unit volume of test medium held in the exposure vessel, commonly given as grams per liter. Heavy loading lowers dissolved oxygen, raises ammonia and other waste concentrations, and can deplete the test substance through uptake and degradation, so aquatic test guidelines limit it.

  2. Coefficients that describe the relationship between original variables and latent variables in multivariate statistical methods like principal component analysis. They indicate the contribution of each original variable to a principal component. Loadings are often visualized in a loadings plot to interpret the meaning of the components.
