Principal-component factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009474
A latent variable obtained in principal-component analysis as a linear combination of the original measured variables. The factors are mutually orthogonal and ordered so that the first captures the largest share of the total variance, the second the largest share of what remains, and so on. Orthogonality makes their scores uncorrelated, which is weaker than statistical independence.
