Variance scaling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012518
A data preprocessing technique in chemometrics where each variable in a dataset is divided by its standard deviation. This method normalizes the data, giving all variables equal weight in subsequent analyses, regardless of their original magnitude. It is often applied before principal component analysis or clustering.
