Mean centering

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007068

A data pre-processing technique where the mean of each variable is subtracted from all values of that variable in a dataset. This transformation shifts the origin of the data to the centroid of the dataset, making it easier to interpret subsequent multivariate analyses. It is commonly applied before principal component analysis or other chemometric methods.
