Describing aquatic environments characterized by flowing water, such as rivers, streams, and creeks. These ecosystems are defined by unidirectional water movement, which influences their physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. Organisms in lotic systems are adapted to cope with current and often exhibit specialized morphologies or behaviors.
