Lotic mesocosms
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006778
Experimental enclosures designed to simulate flowing water environments, such as streams or rivers, for ecological and ecotoxicological studies. These systems allow researchers to control environmental variables and introduce substances to observe their effects on aquatic communities under semi-natural conditions. They bridge the gap between laboratory experiments and field studies in lotic ecosystems.
