Lotic water
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006779
Water that is continuously flowing in a unidirectional manner, characteristic of rivers, streams, and other running water bodies. This movement distinguishes it from lentic water, which is still or standing. The flow rate and turbulence of lotic water significantly influence its physical and chemical properties, as well as the types of organisms that can inhabit it.
