Lentic water
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006515
Still or slowly flowing freshwater bodies, including lakes, ponds, and marshes. These aquatic systems are characterized by minimal current, allowing for the establishment of stable thermal stratification and the accumulation of organic matter. The water column in lentic environments often develops distinct zones based on light penetration and oxygen levels, influencing the distribution of aquatic life.
