Leprosy

A chronic infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, primarily affecting the skin, peripheral nerves, upper respiratory tract, eyes, and testes. It is characterized by skin lesions, nerve damage leading to loss of sensation, and muscle weakness. The disease is curable with multidrug therapy, typically involving dapsone, rifampicin, and clofazimine.
