Microplate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007348

A flat, rectangular plate containing a grid of small depressions called wells, which function as miniature test tubes for chemical or biological assays. Microplates are designed for handling by automated robotic systems, allowing for the simultaneous processing of many samples in high-throughput screening applications. Standard formats include plates with 96, 384, or 1536 wells, all conforming to specific dimensional standards for compatibility with laboratory equipment.
