Plate washer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009031

An automated device that performs washing cycles on microplates by dispensing a wash buffer into the wells and then aspirating the liquid. This procedure is repeated to remove unbound materials, such as antibodies or reagents, and to reduce background signal in heterogeneous assays. Plate washers are standard equipment for performing multi-step procedures like the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and other solid-phase immunoassays.
