Multifactorial disease

A disease resulting from the interaction of multiple genetic and environmental factors, rather than a single gene mutation or environmental exposure. The predisposition to such diseases is often inherited, but environmental triggers are necessary for their manifestation. Examples include heart disease, diabetes, and many cancers.
