Diathesis

A constitutional predisposition or inherent tendency to a particular disease or condition. This underlying vulnerability can be genetic or acquired, making an individual more susceptible to developing certain illnesses when exposed to specific environmental triggers. For example, an allergic diathesis indicates a predisposition to allergic reactions.
