Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007820
A non-native plant species that has been introduced into a geographical region to which it is not indigenous. Its presence is the result of intentional or accidental human activity. A plant is classified as an archaeophyte if it was introduced in ancient times, whereas a neophyte is a more recent introduction, with the specific time cutoff varying by geographical convention, such as the discovery of the New World around 1500 AD.
