Direct liquid introduction

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003259

A technique for interfacing a liquid chromatograph with a mass spectrometer, where the entire liquid effluent from the column is introduced directly into the mass spectrometer's ion source. This method requires efficient solvent removal to maintain the vacuum within the mass spectrometer. It is less common now due to the development of electrospray ionization.
