Otocephaly
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008366
A rare and severe congenital malformation characterized by the absence or underdevelopment of the mandible, a condition called agnathia, and abnormal positioning of the ears. The ears are displaced towards the front and midline of the neck, a condition known as synotia, and are sometimes fused together. This developmental anomaly is part of a spectrum of defects affecting the first branchial arch and is incompatible with postnatal life.
