Ouchterlony technique
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008367
A double immunodiffusion method used to detect and identify antibodies and antigens by observing precipitin lines formed in an agar gel. Antigens and antibodies are placed in separate wells and allowed to diffuse towards each other, forming visible lines of precipitation where they meet at optimal concentrations. This technique can distinguish between reactions of identity, partial identity, and non-identity.
