Precipitin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009354
An antibody that reacts with a soluble antigen to form an insoluble complex, which then settles out of solution as a visible precipitate. This antigen-antibody reaction is dependent on the relative concentrations of both components. Precipitin reactions are foundational to many serological tests for detecting antigens or antibodies in biological samples.
