Indirect agglutination

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005775

An immunological assay where soluble antigens or antibodies are attached to an inert carrier particle, such as latex beads or red blood cells. The agglutination, or clumping, of these coated particles occurs when they react with specific antibodies or antigens present in the sample. This method is used for detecting antibodies or antigens that do not naturally cause agglutination.
