Agglutination inhibition

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000333

A type of immunoassay where the presence of an analyte in a sample prevents the agglutination (clumping) of particles, such as red blood cells or latex beads, that are coated with an antigen or antibody. If the analyte is present, it binds to the antibody, leaving fewer free antibodies to cause agglutination of the coated particles. The absence of agglutination indicates a positive result.
