Prozone effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009621
A phenomenon observed in immunological assays, such as agglutination or precipitation tests, where high concentrations of antibody or antigen lead to a false-negative result. This occurs because an excess of one reactant prevents the formation of a stable lattice structure required for visible reaction. Dilution of the sample can often resolve this issue.
