Passive avoidance test

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008529

A behavioral assay used to assess learning and memory in rodents, particularly fear-motivated learning. An animal learns to avoid entering a dark compartment where it previously received an aversive stimulus, such as an electric shock. The latency to re-enter the dark compartment is measured as an indicator of memory retention.
