Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis test
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008530
An in vivo assay used to detect the presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in serum. Serum from a sensitized individual is injected intradermally into a naive recipient animal, followed by intravenous challenge with the allergen and a dye. A positive reaction is indicated by local extravasation of the dye due to mast cell degranulation.
