Conditioned avoidance response test

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002389

A behavioral assay used in neurotoxicology to assess learning and memory, particularly the ability of an animal to learn to avoid an unpleasant stimulus. An animal learns to associate a neutral cue with an aversive event, such as an electric shock, and then performs an action to prevent the shock. This test measures the latency to avoid and the number of avoidance responses.
