Passivation potential
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008528
The most negative electrode potential at which a metal or alloy transitions from an active corrosion state to a passive state, where a protective film forms and significantly reduces the corrosion rate. This potential corresponds to the peak current density in the active-passive region of a potentiodynamic polarization curve. Potentials more positive than this value result in the formation and maintenance of the passive layer.
