Selective corrosion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010674
A form of corrosion where one component of an alloy or composite material is preferentially attacked and removed, leaving the other components largely intact. This process can lead to a weakening of the material's structure and altered mechanical properties. An example is dezincification in brass, where zinc is selectively leached out.
