Perforin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013381
A pore-forming protein released by cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells. This protein inserts into the membrane of target cells, creating channels that allow granzymes to enter and induce apoptosis. Perforin is a key effector molecule in the immune system's defense against virally infected cells and tumor cells.
