Pharmacogenetics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008720
The study of how genetic variations among individuals influence their responses to drugs. It focuses on single gene variations that affect drug metabolism, efficacy, and toxicity, aiming to explain why some people experience adverse effects while others do not. Pharmacogenetics is a component of the broader field of pharmacogenomics, which examines the entire genome's role in drug response.
