Plasmacytoid dendritic cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009020
A type of dendritic cell characterized by its plasma cell-like morphology and its ability to produce large amounts of type I interferons in response to viral infections. These cells are found in peripheral blood and lymphoid tissues, acting as professional antigen-presenting cells. They express Toll-like receptors 7 and 9, which detect viral nucleic acids.
