Preferential sorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009378
The phenomenon where one component of a mixed solvent system is adsorbed or absorbed by a polymer to a greater extent than the other components. This selective interaction can influence the conformation of the polymer chains and the overall properties of the polymer solution or gel. It is quantified by the preferential sorption coefficient.
