Quinone diazides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009786
A class of compounds also known as diazooxides, which are formally derived from quinones by the replacement of one or both of the ring carbonyl oxygen atoms with a diazonio group. These molecules exist as zwitterionic resonance hybrids between a quinonoid structure and a benzenoid structure bearing a diazonio group. Upon photolysis or thermolysis, they extrude dinitrogen gas to form highly reactive ketocarbenes, a property used in photoresist technology.
