Quinones
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013463
A class of organic compounds characterized by a cyclic diketone structure derived from an aromatic compound, where two hydrogen atoms are replaced by two oxygen atoms. These compounds are often colored and readily undergo reversible reduction to hydroquinones. Benzoquinone is a simple example of this class of compounds.
