Rearing
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009997
A specific motor behavior observed in laboratory animals, particularly rodents, characterized by standing upright on the hind limbs. This exploratory action is quantified in neurotoxicology and behavioral pharmacology studies to assess the effects of chemical substances on central nervous system function, motor coordination, and anxiety levels. A change in the frequency or duration of rearing events compared to control animals can indicate a toxic effect.
