Rouse theory
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010444
A theoretical framework that describes the dynamics of polymer chains in dilute solutions or melts by modeling the polymer as a series of beads connected by entropic springs. It neglects hydrodynamic interactions between chain segments and assumes that each bead experiences a frictional force proportional to its velocity. This theory predicts the viscoelastic response of polymers at short times or high frequencies.
