Pearl-necklace model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008579
A theoretical model used to describe the hydrodynamic behavior of a flexible polymer chain in solution, representing it as a series of beads connected by rigid rods. Each bead represents a segment of the polymer chain, and the rods represent the bonds between them. This model is employed to calculate properties like intrinsic viscosity and diffusion coefficients, considering both excluded volume and hydrodynamic interactions.
