Kirkwood-Riseman theory

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006364

A theoretical framework used to describe the hydrodynamic properties of polymer chains in solution, particularly their translational friction coefficient and intrinsic viscosity. It considers the polymer as a series of beads connected by rigid rods, accounting for hydrodynamic interactions between segments. This theory provides insights into the conformation of macromolecules in dilute solutions.
