Salpingectomy

A surgical procedure for the excision of one (unilateral) or both (bilateral) of the Fallopian tubes. This operation is performed for medical reasons such as treating an ectopic pregnancy, managing certain cancers, or as a method of permanent sterilization. A bilateral salpingectomy results in the inability for oocytes to travel from the ovaries to the uterus.
